In the fourth week of the ‘Listening Journal’ playlists, BLLOGU launches “Croatian Singer-songwriters through time”, prepared by the Croatian singer-songwriter Sara Renar. The playlist explores the context of the composer and singer from the classics of the 20th century, to the alternative music artists of the 80s and 90s and songwriters of modern songs.
The list begins with recordings by songwriters such as Toma Bebić, Arsen Dedić, Damir Urban, and continues with Mance, a singer-songwriter from Zagreb who has been an inspiration to other artists on the list such as Seine, Katanec, Mary May, JR August, Lovely Quinces, Irena Zilic and Pi. The 90-minute playlist ends with two original compositions “Capital” and “Jesen” by Sara Renar, who also shared a description for BLLOGU’s readers:
“Hello! My name is Sara Renar, I am a singer and songwriter from Zagreb, Croatia. Croatia has a really long tradition of singers and songwriters, especially for such a small country, and this playlist will explore it. From the most classic singers and songwriters of the 20th century, to modern day young artists with an exciting potential, I hope you enjoy this playlist! ”
